Beliefs
Each and every one of us operates in the world from our own unique combination
of beliefs. We see the world in relation to these, and the world we experience
faithfully reflects our beliefs back to us.
Some of our beliefs are positive and life-enhancing, whilst others can block
us and prevent us from getting the most out of our lives. Many of these are
formed at a young age. They can develop as the result of positive or negative
experiences; they can be passed on to us by caretakers and teachers or other
influential figures; they can be the result of religious teaching or
ethnic or national expectations.
Whatever the source, these beliefs operate on us in powerful ways affecting
our thoughts and behaviour on a daily basis, most of them operating out of
conscious awareness.
In terms of Clinical Hypnosis, this is of great importance. Firstly, a good
hypnotherapist is deeply respectful of a person?s belief system recognising
that change is most likely to occur in line with what you want if your belief
system is worked with. Thus, part of what I am doing during the initial consultation
is trying to perceive this in order to 'design' your unique treatment plan.
